Cozumel's largest cruise terminal and Carnival's home base. A self-contained resort complex with pool, beach, bars, and shopping, located 5 miles south of downtown.
Puerta Maya (also known as SSA Mexico) is the largest and southernmost cruise terminal in Cozumel, located approximately 5 miles south of downtown San Miguel. It is Carnival Cruise Line's primary pier in Cozumel, handling the majority of Carnival ships that visit the island.
Unlike Cozumel's other piers, Puerta Maya is designed as a self-contained resort-style complex. The terminal features a swimming pool, a small beach with ocean access, multiple bars and restaurants, and a large shopping area. Many passengers choose to spend their entire port day within the complex without ever leaving.
However, if you want to explore Cozumel or take a tour, a taxi to downtown costs $8-12 USD (10-15 minutes). Most independent tour operators, including us, offer free pickup directly at Puerta Maya, so you do not need to arrange your own transportation.
