Captain Beto is a third-generation Cozumel fisherman and our deep sea fishing expert. With 25+ years on the water, he knows exactly where the marlin, wahoo, and mahi-mahi run.
Roberto — everyone calls him Beto — comes from three generations of Cozumel fishermen. His grandfather fished these waters in the 1940s, and his father captained charter boats for 30 years before him.
Beto holds the current record for the largest blue marlin caught on a charter trip off Cozumel — a 412-pound monster that fought for nearly 3 hours. But he's equally comfortable with families on a casual snorkeling trip or navigating a private boat charter to Isla Pasión.
He's known for his calm demeanor, his encyclopedic fishing knowledge, and his talent for making first-time anglers feel like seasoned pros. He also makes a mean fresh ceviche from the day's catch.
Beto holds the local charter fishing record — a 412-pound blue marlin caught in 2019 that fought for nearly 3 hours before being released.
