Cozumel Water Sports: What's Available & What's Included

From floating over coral reefs on a paddleboard to parasailing above the entire island, Cozumel's water sports options are as diverse as the island itself. Here's what you can do and which of our tours include it.

The Water in Cozumel Is the Main Attraction

The Caribbean water around Cozumel is a color that photographs struggle to capture. It's genuinely turquoise, a combination of shallow sandy bottom, exceptional clarity, and the refraction of equatorial sunlight. Water temperatures stay between 72–84°F year-round, making it comfortable for any water activity in any month.

The western shore of Cozumel (where all tours depart from) is protected from the prevailing trade winds, which means the water is nearly always calm and flat. This makes it ideal for beginners, children, and anyone who doesn't want rough water on their day out. Conditions that would shut down beach activities on the East Coast of the US or in the Gulf are routine days in Cozumel.

Cozumel's snorkeling is among the best in the Caribbean. The shallow reefs are clear, calm, and packed with marine life. Our reef snorkeling tours and catamaran tours include equipment, guides, and multiple reef stops. No experience necessary. If you can breathe through a tube, you can snorkel here.

Kayaking

Sea kayaking along Cozumel's protected western coastline is a peaceful way to explore. The water on the leeward side is calm year-round, and you can paddle directly over shallow reef areas for natural snorkeling views from above. Our All-Inclusive Day Pass and beach club tours include kayak access as part of the package.

Paddleboarding (SUP)

Level: Beginner-friendlyAge: 8+

Stand-up paddleboarding is one of the best ways to appreciate Cozumel's water clarity. You can see straight to the sandy bottom 15 feet below as you glide along the shore. SUP boards are included in our All-Inclusive Day Pass and available at beach club stops on several tours. Balance improves quickly and no prior experience is needed.

Jet Skiing

Jet skis are available for rental at select beach clubs and at the downtown pier area. They offer a fast, thrilling way to cover the coastline and are best suited for confident swimmers and drivers. Jet skis are not included in our tour packages but can be arranged as an add-on at the beach club location.

Parasailing

Level: No experience neededAge: 8+
Add-on / at venue

Parasailing over Cozumel gives you a bird's-eye view of the island, the reef, and the turquoise water. You're harnessed to a parachute and lifted from the boat to heights of up to 600 feet before being gently brought back down. It's peaceful, not as scary as it looks, and one of the most memorable things you can do on the island.
