Browse Shore ExcursionsCozumel has three separate cruise ship terminals along the island's western coast. Where you dock determines what's within walking distance.
Downtown San Miguel
The only pier where you can walk directly into town without transportation.
3 miles south of downtown
Has a large shopping and dining village right at the terminal. Most tour operators pick up here.
5 miles south of downtown
Largest terminal with pool, bars, shops, and beach access inside the complex. Carnival's home base in Cozumel.
Advice from local guides who have been meeting cruise passengers at these piers for over 25 years.
Your cruise line will announce which pier you dock at, and it can vary by sailing. Check the Cruise Compass or daily newsletter the night before your Cozumel port day.
Cozumel taxis use a zone-based fixed rate system (no meters). From the International Pier to downtown is $5-8 USD. From Puerta Maya it is $8-12. Agree on the price before getting in.
Most independent tour operators (including us) offer free pickup from all three piers. You do not need to take a taxi to meet your tour. We come to you.
All-aboard time is typically 30 minutes before departure. We guarantee you back to your pier with time to spare. That is our Back-to-Cruise Guarantee.
If you walk to downtown from Puerta Maya or International Pier, allow plenty of time to get back. A taxi is faster and more reliable than walking, especially in the heat.
On very busy days when all piers are full, some ships anchor offshore and tender passengers in. Tender boats dock at Punta Langosta (downtown). This can add 20-30 minutes each way.
No matter which terminal your ship docks at, we pick you up and drop you back. Free pier pickup on every tour, every time.
