Captain & Marine Guide
Born and raised on Cozumel, Captain Carlos has been navigating these waters since he was 12. A certified PADI Divemaster and marine naturalist, he knows every reef, current, and turtle nesting site on the island.
Captain Carlos grew up on the water. His grandfather was one of Cozumel's first commercial fishermen, and by age 12 Carlos was already crewing on local boats. He earned his PADI Divemaster certification at 19 and has since logged over 8,000 dives in the Mesoamerican Reef system.
Carlos has an encyclopedic knowledge of Cozumel's marine life — he can identify over 200 species of fish, coral, and invertebrates by sight. Guests consistently praise his ability to spot eagle rays, sea turtles, and nurse sharks that others miss.
When he's not leading tours, Carlos volunteers with the Cozumel Marine Conservation Foundation, helping monitor coral health and protect nesting sites for endangered sea turtles.
Carlos once guided a group of marine biologists from National Geographic to a previously undocumented nurse shark aggregation site off the south end of the island.
