María Elena is Cozumel's top adventure guide. A competitive off-road racer and certified wilderness guide, she leads our Jeep, ATV, and dune buggy tours through jungle trails most people never see.
María Elena didn't grow up on Cozumel — she fell in love with the island during a spring break trip in 2009 and never left. Before moving to Cozumel, she was an off-road racing competitor in Baja California.
Her driving skills and mechanical knowledge make her the perfect guide for our land adventure tours. She knows every trail, shortcut, and hidden viewpoint on the island. She's also a certified first aid responder and has a deep knowledge of the island's jungle ecology.
María Elena is known for her infectious energy and for pushing guests just outside their comfort zone — safely. She's received more TripAdvisor "Traveler's Choice" mentions than any other guide on the team.
María Elena once completed the Baja 1000 off-road race as the youngest female driver in her class, finishing in the top 20.
